The Plum Egg beaded bead is an egg-shaped cluster woven using a technique similar to right angle weave. Inspired by the origami of Rona Gurkewitz and Bennett Arnstein, this beaded bead is in the shape of a truncated hexadecahedron; a polyhedron that contains 16 hexagons, eight pentagons, and two squares. This design is an ideal size for a beaded pendant, and its holes are large enough so that it can be strung through a narrow cord. Weave one of these eggs to celebrate Easter in the springtime, or weave it in the fall to mark the start of the American football season.

The Plum Egg beading pattern includes:

  • 14 pages of step-by-step instructions.
  • 51 full color illustrations and photographs.
  • Several photos of finished jewelry and design variations.

To stitch these beaded beads, you'll need:

  • 4mm to 6mm round beads, stones, or freshwater pearls
  • Beading thread (6lb Fireline, KO, Miyuki beading thread, or One G)

Dimensions: 1.1 by 0.9 inches (2.8 by 2.2 cm)

Techniques: Right Angle Weave (RAW) variation

Difficulty: Advanced Beginner
